New York

Friday, May 17th was the annual meeting for UNICEF. As a board member for the Southeastern region, I attended my second annual meeting.

The meeting was held at J.P. Morgan Chase and Co., 1 Chase Manhattan Plaza -- awesome views!

And from the other side, Lady Liberty.

I stayed at the Millenial Hilton on Thursday evening, where I had this view of the progress on the World Trade Center memorial and the new One World Trade Center, which had just received its new spire:

Saturday, before flying back to Atlanta, I walked over the Brooklyn Bridge with my UNICEF buddy, Sherry.

While I had been through the Portland airport, I'd never really stayed in Oregon until I went for the chartering of the Pi Kapp Chapter at University of Oregon. It was a wonderful weekend to be there - the weather was perfect--sunny and 80 degrees. I had to double-check to see if I had searched for the right city.

I flew into Portland, spent an evening there, then drove down to Eugene, OR the next day. Eugene is a great college town with beautiful surroundings.

Saturday, I had lunch at Toshi's Ramen--really awesome ramen and gyoza. I found this review of the place which had had a picture of their impressive menu:

Afterwards, I had a free afternoon, so I decided to go for a walk by the Willamette river near my hotel. There were some great trails there, including Pre's Trail, named after Oregon track star Steve Prefontaine. My route:

And my view while I was standing in the Willamette:

Saturday night we had the Pi Kapp chartering banquet-- great group of new Pi Kapps:

Sunday, I drove back to Portland for the flight home, but on the way took this picture of Willamette Falls with Mt. Hood in the background.
