Las Vegas

I flew to Las Vegas on Friday to meet my sister and my brother-in-law for dinner. We stayed at the Mandalay Bay, and had dinner at STRIPSTEAK, a Michael Mina restaurant.
After dinner, we went to Eyecandy Sound Lounge & Bar, where we hung out with Rob Lowe. (Well, we hung out at the same time and place as Rob Lowe.) Above: Frank, Angela, and Chris at Eyecandy. At left, Frank and Angela in the Luxor.

Greenland

OK, so I really haven't "been" here, but the view of Greenland while I was flying back from Paris was OUTSTANDING.

Paris

This time, Paris was a very quick trip. I took the 6:00 pm train down from Lille on Sunday night, checked into my hotel (Le Meridien on Montparnasse), then headed up to the Marais to meet a coworker and her husband for dinner. (Above, map in the Metro of the Montparnasse area.)

My choice for dinner: Au Gamin de Paris. It's consistently good, with a fun staff. This time was more touristy than past times, but I guess word has gotten around.

If you are in Paris, give it a try.

Ghent, Belgium

Scenes from Ghent, Brussels (Gand in French, Gent in Flemish)-- Jonathan, Michel, Julien and I drove from Lille to Ghent on Saturday.

Lille, France

Ahh... Lille. What I love about Lille is that I can go there, stay with friends, and have great meals and good times. As I had my last several times here, I stayed with my friend Louis at his place, Villa Paulette. This time, my buddy Jonathan came with me. After arriving by train from Brussels (about a 3o minute ride), Louis cooked lunch and my friend Michel joined us. That afternoon, Julien (who lived in Atlanta a few years ago and introduced me to Lille) joined us and we did a bit of shopping in the old city.

That night, we dined on champagne and oysters before going out to dinner at Vieux Louis, which serves food typical of Southwestern France.

Louis was going to Warsaw for the weekend, so he left us with the keys to his place for the weekend.
I ate a couple of great restaurants this time. I recommend Alcide, located at 5, rue Debris St Etienne (http://www.restaurantalcide.fr/), and of course Aux Vieux Louis, which I LOVED, located at 45, Rue de Gand.

Mexico City

Mexico City is such a quick, easy getaway from Atlanta. Great food, fun times, lots of history, and the dollar still goes a long way there. So I found myself back in Mexico City after just a couple of weeks since my last visit here. Here are some of the sites:

Big Sky, Montana

What a great weekend in Big Sky, Montana. I flew into Bozeman, MT on Friday afternoon through Salt Lake City, and drove the 45 miles or so to Big Sky Resort.

Check it out: http://www.bigskyresort.com/

I skiied on Saturday-- a great sunny day, though cold. Big Sky has over 3800 acres, with a skiable vertical of 4,350 feet. I made it back alive from the summit, Lone Peak. Here's a picture of Lone Peak and then one of me standing at the top of Lone Peak, with Fan Mountain in the background.

Après Ski: Playing snare drum with the Austrian Brothers.
